The original production of The Band’s Visit, directed by David Cromer and starring Tony Shalhoub, Katrina Lenk, John Cariani and George Abud, premiered Off Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater in New York in November 2016 and will begin previews on Broadway on October 7, 2017 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre prior to an official opening on November 9, 2017.
Synopsis
An Egyptian Police Band arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix-up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways.
